# Amen Bootloader 1.0.0 Amen Bootloader prepares the Daisy Seed on a Pod for QSPI instruments and fixes USB read-back verification. It is an Amen Audio build based on Electro-Smith DaisyBootloader 6.4, with corrected QSPI reads and an Amen USB name. ## Install from Firmware Studio 1. Select **Amen Bootloader** in the library. 2. Enter **STM32 recovery mode**: hold BOOT on the Seed, press and release RESET, then release BOOT. 3. Click **Connect Daisy** and choose the STM32 DFU device, often called **DFU in FS Mode**. Recovery mode keeps its factory USB name. 4. Confirm the hardware and click **Install Amen Bootloader**. Keep the USB cable connected while writing and verifying. 5. Wait for **Bootloader ready** and the verified message. This replaces the internal-flash program or previous bootloader. It leaves the QSPI instrument intact. It does not change the Seed's factory ROM recovery mode. ## Install a QSPI instrument next Press RESET, then press BOOT while the LED pulses to keep Amen Bootloader in DFU mode. Select your QSPI instrument in the Studio, click Connect Daisy and choose **Amen Bootloader**, confirm the hardware, and install. A successful installation verifies all firmware bytes before requesting a restart. The default bootloader window is two seconds. If the instrument has already started, repeat RESET followed by BOOT during the pulsing LED window. Holding BOOT before RESET instead enters STM32 recovery mode; that mode is for installing the bootloader, not QSPI instruments. Installing an **internal-flash** instrument replaces Amen Bootloader. Install it again before switching back to QSPI instruments. ## USB identity - Product: Amen Bootloader - Manufacturer: Amen Audio - VID/PID: 0483:df11 (unchanged for Daisy DFU compatibility) - Built-in USB port, 1,024-byte DFU transfers The name is visible only while Amen Bootloader is running. An instrument can use its own USB name, and STM32 recovery mode always uses its factory USB name. ## Recovery If a bootloader installation is interrupted, enter STM32 recovery mode using BOOT + RESET and reinstall. A checksum or write error is not a verified install. ## Source and credits Based on [Electro-Smith DaisyBootloader](https://github.com/electro-smith/DaisyBootloader) commit 8b279a8e25922b786c24a6cbd1d499cdc1e76934, with its pinned libDaisy revision 24be4afea00d71988019fe8dd9fd9fc8fc5bf72c. Original bootloader copyright belongs to Electrosmith; this is a custom Amen Audio build, not an official Electro-Smith release. Read the [license notices](amen-bootloader-license.txt). The release includes [read-back](amen-readback.patch) and [USB branding](amen-branding.patch) source patches. The underlying read-back fix was tested on a physical Daisy Seed: internal-flash read-back matched the bootloader, the existing PRISM application matched all 181,884 bytes, and a subsequent installation through Firmware Studio passed. The 1.0.0 branded build changes the USB strings; its checksum, vectors and size are checked automatically. USB enumeration of this branded build has not yet been confirmed on physical hardware.
